Chapter Seven

Dixon felt the change between him and Sid. The connection was deeper and his animal thrilled. He’d bared his soul to Sid and showed him his wolf. He hadn’t told Sid about his past or the scrapes he’d experienced while in his wolf form, but he would. He needed to come clean about everything, but not at this moment. The longer they were together, the more he’d be able to discuss.

“Are you hungry?” Dixon asked. He should move, but he wanted to stay right here with Sid instead.

“Famished.” Sid brushed his thumb across Dixon’s bottom lip. “Are you going to feed me?”

“Yes, I am.” Dixon kissed his hand, then stood. He hiked his sleep pants up but paused. He doubted Sid wanted to stay in that suit all day. He wanted Sid to be comfortable. “Choose whatever you want from my closet. It’s all available to you.”

“Dixon.” Sid stood and pulled his pants up. He zipped but didn’t button them. “Are you sure?”

The concern in Sid’s voice bothered Dixon. He didn’t know how to reassure his husband that they were meant to be. “I didn’t marry you just to keep you from using my things. My clothes and the rest are available for you. This is what we’re supposed to do and how this should go.” He grasped Sid’s hands. “I don’t want to lose you.”

“You won’t.” Sid rested his forehead on Dixon’s and brushed his nose along Dixon’s cheek. “It’s taking me time to get my mind around this, but I’m getting there.”

He could accept that. Seeing his rings on Sid’s fingers pleased him. He loved this man and loved knowing Sid was his husband. There were still barriers, though. “You married me and you’re entitled to my things. I insist. Besides, I’m buying you an entire wardrobe of clothes. I can buy you nice things and I want to.”

“Yes, sir.” Sid blushed, then grinned. “I mean, Dixon. Thank you.”

“Welcome. If you need me, I’ll be in the kitchen. Take your time.” He kissed Sid, then left him to get dressed. He had no idea if he had food in the house and should probably figure that out.

He stopped in the kitchen. As he stood in the cavernous space, he realized he didn’t bring people to his home often. Hell, he rarely spent time in this house. Now he wanted to make this dwelling his primary residence and share it with Sid. He didn’t need five homes, but he loved that he’d been able to buy them. He didn’t really need seven cars, but again, what was money for than to spend and invest it?

William strode into the kitchen. “Sir.”

“William.” He appreciated his staff and encouraged open lines of communication with them. “What’s wrong?” He preferred to have his staff on his side and comfortable with him, than keeping secrets.

“Kael has been seen on the property.”

So his half-brother wasn’t waiting for an opening. No, Kael was trying to force the timeline. Jackass. Dixon should’ve known this would happen.
